I am an artist who is interested in visual copyright. I created this site when I realized there was a need for high quality copyright information for visual artists.

Visual Art Copyright is a hybrid publication consisting of essays, editorials and news combined with reference and support materials. The intention of this publication is to help visual artists understand the complexities of copyright so they can better protect their own rights as well as respect the rights of others artists.
In this website, the term "visual artist" applies to any person who works creatively with images, including painters, comic artists, printmakers, designers, illustrators and photographers.
Although this site was created by a Canadian visual artist, visitors from the US, UK, Australia and all countries will find helpful general information on copyright, especially if their country follows the Berne Convention, an international agreement establishing basic intellectual property and copyright laws.
